It often gets confused with its half-sibling Aranda Bertha Braga (Arach. Maggie Oei x V. tricolor), which has longer leaves and proves more free-flowering: hence frequently seen and then offered quite wrongly as a Maroon Maggie. It is sometimes confused with Arachnis x maingayi, which is nature's version of its seed parent. [Emrys Chew 2017-04-29]

History Arachnis Maroon Maggie (Arachnis Maggie Oei x Arachnis flos-aeris) (J.L. Pestana, 1956) is a Scorpion orchid of Singaporean origin, hybridised by a former Director of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The authentic hybrid is seldom seen in cultivation these days, especially since it was, at best, a seasonal bloomer - following the annual flowering habit of the pollen parent instead of the free-flowering tendency of the seed parent.
